The Emoji Movie (Yes It's Real)

I knew that would happen!

 

Bet he saw the red b emoji and started to fap

 

well considering its a kids movie he was more likely going for those sexy teenagers.

 

I love that they specified "poorly rated". In an article about a theater fapper, they just had to remind us how bad the movie is.

 

I've heard a fan theory (not fans of this, of course) that Ryan Reynolds convinced T.J. Miller to take the part so they can make fun of it in Deadpool 2. Genius!

 

I like how the movie is so bad that we would rather talk about the guy that got caught with his pants down than the actual film itself.

 

What's being lost in the endless amounts of negative reviews for this movie:

It appears to be making a better box office haul then people were predicting...

 

Sucks.

 

I was predicting $0 so I suppose anything over than that is pretty good.

 

as of Monday, it's made 51 million domestically. Gotta admit, that's a shit ton more then I was expecting. I'm sure Sony considers this a small victory, considering how universally negative the reviews have been.

 

I always thought the rule of thumb was that a movie needed to make double it's budget to be considered a "hit".

 

Tuesday's box office report came in, and it apparently made another 2 million plus dollars.

It's strange, but it seems like this movie must be doing *something* right if it's making respectable money like this despite being roasted by all critics.

 

I've heard from a few sources that it's being enjoyed mainly by little kids who probably dragged their parents there, so that's got to be a big source of revenue. Kids like bright colors, cartoony things, poop, and being sedated in front of electronic devices so I guess it's not suprising it would do well. And it's summer, so you have the "let's go see a shit movie because why not" demographic.
I was still really hoping it would tank massively though

 

Well let's hope that's true. I don't want to think some years down the line it happens.

Children really are stupid! The line about "You should win things by watching" reminds me of a certain person we know very well!

 

It was pretty much a clear cut recipe for tanking. As we've all said before, it had a universally hated first trailer, had almost unanimous negative reviews from critics, the works.

But yeah, It's very quietly building up some not so bad numbers. Again, Sony probably considers it a victory that this movie didn't tank

This is going to be one of those things that we're going to have a hard time explaining to our kids.

 

I can't believe i just sat and watched an entire half hour critique on the emoji movie...
