OH HAI MARK!

It's odd that we don't have a thread on what is arguably the best worst movie of all time.

 

The football scene is the best one.

That scene had a lot of emotion going on into it, as the passing of the ball looked like cues to the next actor/character express themselves until the imminent event of the enter of the new actor/character on the scene that changes the entire pace of the story we knew until that point.

 

It's so hard for me to pick a favorite thing about The Room...it is tearing me apart!

Really, though, few movies compel me as much as The Room for whatever reason, nearly to the point of obsession. I've read The Disaster Artist cover to cover, I read the comic Philip Haldiman's been issuing about his tenure as Denny, I've completed the game...basically, if it's related to The Room, I'm interested.
I swear to god I'm into other things though.

I love weird stories and people (part of what attracted me to Chris following), and I really don't think you could find a more perfectly weird person than Tommy or the strange stories surrounding his movie and the people involved.

 

My favorite part is at the end when Johnny is going on the rampage and destroying everything.

 

I always liked the way Greg describes one of the takes they got in The Disaster Artist:

Everything about this is perfect. Especially the footballs bouncing off Luke.

 

Remember to take some plastic spoons with you.

 

Also at least one football.

Like @Another Fellow posted, The Disaster Artist was a surreal read. I'd highly recommend it to anyone who wonders what was going through the crew and cast's heads during production of The Room, and how they felt about Wiseau. The way Mark's actor narrates the behind the scenes and then the personal lives of him and Wiseau would make for an excellent movie (oh shit, I just found out they ARE making a movie, neat).

The greatest parts is how the most bizarre things in the movie were never explained by Wiseau himself. Denny being a creepy shit who wants to join in threesomes with his sort-of adopted parents was just considered "important" by Wiseau to help charge the movie with more sexuality... for reasons unknown.

The sex scenes themselves had to be cut after convincing Wiseau countless times that there was no reason for them to be over ten minutes long and they had no purpose in the movie itself.

Wiseau was so bad with his lines that Mark gave him the water bottle in the iconic "O hai mark" scene to try and distract him with a prop so he could focus better. Holding the water bottle was the only way they even got Wiseau to finish the lines.

As for the movie itself, I've never found a time to watch the whole thing, despite knowing so much about it. I'm trying to convince my fiance that we should watch it together but he seems terrified of the idea.

 

Daily reminder that "Oh hai Mark!" took 36 takes.

 

K I'm going to see this tonight, anything I should do to prepare myself?

 

Dress in a tuxedo, grow long black hair, bring lots of plastic spoons and throw an american football around.

As a Cleveland Browns fan, I was really impressed with the football skills in this movie.

 

"STAHP GENGING UP AHN MEEEEEEEE!"

 

I remember the first time I saw The Room. I had gotten up in the middle of the night (it was April Fool's Day) to watch some Metalocalypse, flipped it over and...belly button sex. I swear for the first ten minutes I thought I was watching an episode of Tim & Eric.

 

The Room is coming to 600 theaters nationwide one day only in Jan! I'm def going to witness this on the big screen.
